A guy propositioned me and I turned him down. Now I want to get to know him better. Will he respond?

We are both married. I got scared when he approached me, so I shooed him away. Now I find myself thinking about him and wanting to be friends, and take it from there. do you think this guy will respond? he's away on leave and said he would talk but hasnt called yet. do you think he's still interested? should I call or wait?
