Need Help With Gerbils!!?

I just got a 5 month old male gerbil yesterday and I already own 2 females. I used the split cage method overnight but then I got a little impatient and about an hour ago I put all my gerbils together. They didn't fight! They only really smelled each other and the females groomed the male!I don't know if I should keep them all together tonight or not... will they possibly fight? They are snuggling right now but whenever they smell each other, whoever is being smelled squeaks... what does that mean? Please help I'm so confused especially because I heard they are suppost to fight when a stranger is there!
