How to make your paintball gun shoot faster ION PLEASE HELP?

Hi my ion uses a 4500 psi compressed air tank and it shoots like crap. I can literally see the ball skid through the air befor it hits its target. I have no upgrades on my ion at this time, i am thinking of gettin a new barrel will that help. I also have my velocity cranked up my course only allows 290 but even when i am at 270 or 265 i am seeeing t98 customs that shoot a lot faster than mine please help
