Don't you think this bit about lighting the Olympic torch is getting a little worn out?
I am a big sports fan, and love watching the Olympics--winter games and summer games--but I have gotten just a little bit fed up with all this symbolism of running with the torch, ping the torch, running with the torch, ping the torch....etc. And then lighting this giant cauldron of.....I don't know what, but it's definitely some fossil fuel.Kerosene? How about they just open the Games by dropping a big flower bomb from a blimp over the stadium? Thousands of petals could rain down on everyone. I think of fire as being symbolic of war and aggression. But think about flower-power. What could say PEACE, LOVE, HARMONY...more dramatically than a rain down of beautiful, fragrant flowers?
